Why did you decide to volunteer with the MITCNC?
After graduating, I joined Chevron and moved to SF. While attending Club events to meet people, I discovered that the Chairman of Chevron was a Director of the Club. Hmmm, volunteering “might be a good career move.” Forty years later, I continue volunteering with our Club and the MITAA in Cambridge. I was fortunate to serve as MITAA President and 11 years on the MIT Corporation, the experiences of a lifetime! I continue with the Club because I like the MIT people I meet … people like all of you!
Tell us a bit about your role with the MITCNC. What are your responsibilities in this position?
Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Audit Committee, etc
What exciting things can we expect to see from your area of focus in the coming months? (e.g., social events, speakers, etc.)
Exciting things don’t happen at the Directors level. Excitement happens at the Officers level and at events! That is why I gladly drive 2 hours to attend an MITCNC event!
Describe one of your most memorable MIT moments.
When my daughter graduated from MIT in 2013, I was a member of the MIT Corporation. So, I was seated on the stage in Killian Court and was able to personally greet her as she walked up to receive her degree. I am so proud of her!
