MIT Alumni Whisky Blending Workshop
Aug 07 - Virtual Event

Join your fellow MIT alumni for an interactive workshop on fine whisky!

This is a good event for those of us who like to get our hands dirty - in this case, making our own blended whisky. The evening will be led by Holly Seidewand (pictured), brand ambassador for Bacardi, the company that produces the renowned Dewar's brand of blended Scotch whisky, as well as several single malts including Aberfeldy, Craigellachie, and Royal Brackla. Holly will discuss the nuances and production techniques of malt whisky versus grain whisky and will do a deep dive into single malts and how we can combine their flavor profiles along with grain whisky to create a unique blend.

Using a special blending kit, we'll then sample an array of single malts and grain whisky and use them to make our own blended whiskies.

No prior knowledge of whisky required, but the mind of a mad scientist is definitely encouraged!

For alumni outside Massachusetts: Holly recommends you find a bottle of Dewar's 12 (also available in 50 mL mini bottles), Aberfeldy 12, and/or Royal Brackla 12 to sample along with the group over the course of the evening. Check with your local retailer for availability, or consider ordering from one of these online retailers:
