Description:
“Edgewood has a large exposed formation of serpentine rock, which hosts remnant populations of many native plants.  The Park’s grasslands are famous for their magnificent springtime wildflower displays.” – park brochure

The summit rewards visitors with expansive views of the Peninsula and SF Bay.

For more information about Edgewood, visit the park's web site and view the trail map.

Route:
Starting from the Edgewood Trailhead (#18 on map), we’ll ascend and descend the Edgewood Trail for 2 mi. to the visitor center.  Then we’ll climb the Sylvan Trail and short segments of the Serpentine and Live Oak trails for 1 mi. to the summit, where we’ll stop for lunch.  Finally, we rejoin the Serpentine trail to meet the Sunset and Edgewood trails to walk 2 mi. back to the start.

Warning:  This is a moderate hike.  Please be sure that you are comfortable with this level of effort before joining us.

What to Bring:
Start your day with a hearty breakfast.  Bring water, lunch, snacks, hat, and multiple layers of clothing. Sunblock and sunglasses are advisable.

Where we will meet:
We will meet at the trailhead near the corner of Edgewood Rd. and Canada Rd. not the visitor center.  Street parking is available on both sides of Edgewood Rd. and overflows to Canada Rd.

Rain/Weather policy:
If there's any ambiguity about the weather on the day of the hike, check the forecast on the morning of the hike. If it's raining significantly, the hike is cancelled.  If the weather is ambiguous, we will send out an email to the registered participants on the morning of the hike.

Joining any hike is entirely voluntary and participants assume any and all risks associated with the activities. By registering or attending this event, participants agree to the conditions posted liability waiver.
