Bike Ride: Golden Gate Bridge

Join HCSF & HCSV in a group bike ride across the Golden Gate Bridge!

The plan is to meet near Hyde Street pier, where those who need to can rent bicycles and helmets from nearby rental shops.. We will then bike through some well known (and scenic) San Francisco landmarks - Fort Mason, the Marina, and Crissy Field - before crossing over the Golden Gate Bridge. Once across, our route will take us through Fort Baker, Cavallo Point (if time permits) and on to Sausalito..

At this point, faster riders may choose to continue on to Tiburon. For those who opt out of the longer ride, there is plenty of dining, shopping, and sightseeing in Sausalito to keep us entertained, until we return to San Francisco via ferry..

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The ride from Aquatic Park to Sausalito is about 10 miles. Continuing on to Tiburon adds another 10 miles. The pace for the main group will be leisurely/beginner friendly, and there should be plenty of opportunities for photographs, and for pauses to take in the scenery. This is a social/sightseeing ride, NOT a training/exercise ride. However, there are some uphill/climbing sections along our route, so participants do need to be capable of short, moderate exertions.

IMPORTANT: It is each participant's responsibility to rent/obtain a bicycle and helmet. There are bicycle rental shops near Hyde St Pier/Aquatic Park. Bike rentals run about $30-35 for the day. In the past we've often been able to find groupons/discount rental deals. Please let the organizer know if you'd like to be notified of any deals we find. (And also let the organizer know if you run across any good deals.)

If you are renting, please get to the rental shop a little bit ahead of the start time. If the shop is busy, it can easily take 15-30 minutes to go through the rental process.
