Rum Masterclass [led by Eduardo Bacardi '15, sixth generation of Bacardi rum]
Sep 05 - Virtual Event

MIT Club of Boston Event

This is a great event for those who are interested in learning much more about fine rum!

The evening will be led by fellow alumnus Eduardo Bacardi MIT '15, sixth generation of the Bacardi family in Puerto Rico and currently the Director of Sales and Marketing for Ron del Barrilito, an artisanal rum brand and the oldest rum brand in Puerto Rico.

Eduardo will dive deep into the world of fine rum, including a real-time tour of the Ron del Barrilito distillery as well as a rum cocktail tutorial featuring the Barrilito Old Fashioned, Barrijito (Mojito), and Sugarcane Express (see ingredients here). Eduardo will conclude the evening with a Q&A session with attendees.

No prior knowledge of rum required!

Rum Details

Eduardo will be sampling rums from the Ron del Barrilito brand during the evening, and we recommend procuring one or more bottles from the Ron del Barrilito portfolio:

See below for suggestions on where to procure bottles.

For alumni in Massachusetts:

Check with your local retailer for availability - many retailers can special-order bottles for you at no extra charge.

The following retailers around Boston and greater Massachusetts show Ron del Barrilito in inventory:

For alumni in and outside Massachusetts: Check with your local retailer for availability, or order from one of these online retailers:

If you're unable to procure a bottle of Ron del Barrilito, bring any spirit of your liking (preferably rum) and enjoy the event.

The MIT Club of Boston is organizing this event in support of MIT's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In exchange for the value you receive from this event, we ask that you make a donation (in an amount of your choosing) to one or more of the MIT COVID-19 Response Funds.
