MIT Whiskey Tasting: American Craft Whiskey
Apr 18 - Virtual Event

Join MIT alumni from across the United States for a virtual tasting of American craft whiskeys!

The MIT Club of Boston is coordinating with several other MIT alumni clubs to put on this event in support of two causes at once: craft distillers as well as MIT's response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is a great event for those who are interested in American craft whiskey, which has seen a boom in recent years and is producing products with a wide range of ingredients, processes, and flavor profiles. The evening will include an overview of what whiskey is, how it's made, and how to taste it. No prior knowledge of whiskey required!

Event details:

  • At the beginning of the event, we will have an overview of what whiskey is, how it's made, and how to taste it
  • We will then divide into breakout rooms (random assignment), where we will introduce ourselves to our fellow alumni, sample the whiskeys we brought, and discuss our impressions of them
  • Finally, we will rejoin with alumni from the other breakout rooms to share our observations and conclude for the evening

Please try to procure at least one American craft whiskey for the event. Below are suggestions based on region; these whiskeys should generally be available at retailers but supply may vary.

In exchange for the value you receive from this event, we ask that you make a donation (in an amount of your choosing) to the MIT Covid-19 Response Funds.
