The San Francisco Civic Symphony Concert
Aug 21 - San Francisco

The San Francisco Civic Symphony will be putting on a concert for all to attend. They will be premiering a modern San Francisco take on Sergei Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf, with rappers, a world famous beatboxer, and of course, the full symphony. They will also be playing Beethoven's Coriolan Overture and George Walker's Lyric for Strings. The symphony boasts many MIT alumni as members, and the conductor and Music Director is MIT alum Arun Saigal. This concert will be free for MIT alumni and their guests.

About the Symphony
The San Francisco Civic Symphony was founded in 1931, and is the oldest community orchestra on the West Coast.
The symphony remained a part of San Francisco’s Park and Recreation Department until early 2002, when it became an independent organization.  The symphony has since functioned as an all volunteer orchestra, managed by the members of the orchestra and volunteer supporters. It provide a place for musicians of all skill levels and experiences to play together, and provides free live concerts to the general community.
