MITCNC Event
Film Screening: Brief Tender Light
Oct 25 - Peninsula

Join fellow MIT alums at the screening of a film that follows four African students at MIT. There will be a Q&A with the director of the film followed by a group dinner, location TBD.

Description of Film:
At America's elite MIT, a Ghanaian alum follows four African students as they strive to graduate and become agents of change for their home countries: Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. Over an intimate, nearly decade-long journey, all must decide how much of America to absorb, how much of Africa to hold on to, and how to reconcile teenage ideals with the truths they discover about the world and themselves.

Director/Producer: Arthur Musah
Arthur Musah is a filmmaker and engineer from Ghana and Ukraine, and his documentary Naija Beta played at festivals in the U.S., Africa, and Europe, winning the Roxbury International Film Festival’s Best Documentary Short and the Silicon Valley African Film Festival’s Achievement in Documentary awards, among others. Musah studied filmmaking in the M.F.A. program at the University of Southern California as an Annenberg Fellow. Brief Tender Light secured an ITVS co-production for PBS broadcast, won the Paley Center for Media's Doc Pitch competition, and has been supported by the DCTV Docu Work-In-Progress Lab, Cinephilia Bound, the California Film Institute’s DocLands DocPitch, the Hot Docs Forum, the Gotham Documentary Lab, and hundreds of backers on Kickstarter.
