Bike Ride: Woodside: Kings Mountain and Old La Honda Loop
Nov 18 - Peninsula

Distance: 17 (one loop) or 31 (two loops) miles
Difficulty: 7 out of 10 (one loop) or 8 out 10 (two loops)
Terrain: Paved road with hills
Type: Road, Mountain, e-bike
Elevation: 2500 ft (one loop) or 3700 ft (two loops) climbing

Hit two classic rides, Kings Mountain and Old La Honda, for the price of one!

We begin our first loop from Robert’s Market in the quaint town of Woodside. Riders will wind their way up the slopes of Kings Mountain, tackling climbs averaging 8.1% grades and technical descents. The road is well-maintained, providing riders with a smooth surface to tackle at speed. Along the way, riders will enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys, as well as the occasional wildlife sighting.

We circle back to Roberts Market again and start our second loop towards Old La Honda Road, perhaps the most-known "benchmark climb" to road cyclists in the Bay Area. The climb takes place on very rugged terrain enveloped in greenery from beginning to end; starting out in the sparse suburban setting of well-to-do Woodside in oak woodlands, with the density of residences diminishing gradually as you get higher, and occasionally snaking through redwoods groves at the higher elevations.

After completing our two loops, we will meet for an optional brunch at the famous Buck’s Restaurant of Woodside – as featured in the introduction chapter "Breakfast at Buck's" in the book, The Startup Game: Inside the Partnership between Venture Capitalists and Entrepreneurs, by venture capitalist Bill Draper.
