I do research in machine learning and theoretical neuroscience, by exploiting and extending various techniques (see specialties) in the service of achieving the twin goals of, 1) extracting insights from high dimensional data, and 2) understanding how brains process, store and produce high dimensional sensory and motor signals. In the process I also think about how we can improve artificial algorithms for machine learning to better extract insight from large datasets.
