May 10th, 2009, 10:00 AM: The Bootjack Trail to Muir Woods
- This trail descends the side of Mt. Tam, through a meadow, oak woodlands, hilly grasslands, and finally dips into Muir Woods for spectacular redwoods without the usual hordes of tourists infesting the Muir Woods parking areas.
- 6.2 miles, 1080'
June 28th, 2009, 9:15 AM SHARP: Angel Island (SF Bay)
- Our annual trip to Angel Island -- We climb the mountain at the center of the island for the best 360 degree view of the Bay of pretty much anywhere. And the ferry ride over is always fun.
- There's even some additional historical interest this year: the Immigration Station museum has just reopened. Angel Island was the Ellis Island of the West -- but it's a little bit of a darker tale than its East Coast counterpart.
- 6.7 miles, 800'
