What we do!

  • Theater (ACT, CalShakes and more), dance, and music (SF symphony, local operas)

  • Cooking classes
  • Restaurants and movies
  • Family events (for kids, too!)
  • Visiting Bay Area destinations (wineries and other hot spots)
  • Our December Holiday Party, with Live Music

This creates many opportunities and platforms for people to meet, interact and socialize, across different interest groups. Our separate Outdoor events program organizes hikes, and other outdoor activities, including an annual trip to Yosemite National Park, when we book the entire Yosemite Bugs Hostel for our alums.

Attend an event. . .

To the Alumni/ae of Northern California,

The MIT network cultivates alum relationships, both socially and professionally. It's a great way to have fun and meet new friends and reconnect with old ones. If you've never attended an event, check it out. You don't have to know anyone who's already going to attend an event; it's all about meeting each other. We encourage you to read those weekly emails and sign up! If there's an event you'd like to see, let us know. We're looking for more alums to get involved and help plan events or even volunteer their residences or clubs as venues. Please contact john.keen@alum.mit.edu regarding any interest you might have.

Send an email to mitcnc-social-request@mit.edu with "subscribe mitcnc-social" in the body of the message (to subscribe a different email address, use "subscribe mitcnc-social the_other_email_address" in the body). This list gets postings from other alumni clubs that we co-host or co-advertise events with, including Harvard, Stanford, Wharton, Smith, etc. This list is not limited to MIT alums only, so you can invite your non-MIT friends to join as well. You can also use this list to invite interested alums to social and cultural events.

The San Francisco Tango Network is a club for dance enthusiasts that promotes the Argentine Tango. The club promotes beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons, practice sessions, as well as outings to various dance venues and clubs around the bay area. To join, please send email to Christy Cote (christy@christycote.com). The membership for the club spans all the alumni associations, and is not restricted to MIT alums only. Events are co-sponsored by the Metronome Ballroom, and club members are offered substantial discounts on all workshops and dances.
